Habs Thoughts

I have a question for Leafs fans about Tomas Kaberle. He looks completely and utterly lost on the ice since joining the Habs. This is saying something, because he's playing alongside the slowest man in the history of hockey (Hal Gill - who I can forgive, because he puts in an honest effort every game), two rookies (Emelin and Diaz) and two near-rookies (Subban and Weber). I remember there being a lot of hype about Kaberle in Toronto ... was this a case of him being the closest thing to a competent player on the Leafs (such that the Toronto-centred media deluded themselves into believing he was good)? Or has his skill set dropped off dramatically now that he's been infected with the "loser" mentality?

I'm sure you Leafs fans have a question you want to ask us Habs fans about an equally over-hyped player, the answer to which is after the break.

Regarding Komisarek. He was a shot-blocking machine, because he was too slow to get out of the way, and often in the wrong place at the right time. The reason this looked impressive was because Markov was doing everything else. Man I wish Markov was healthy.

Some other thoughts.
Scott Gomez. Please stop wearing number 11. I appreciate that you didn't wear it your first year in town, but you are not Saku Koivu. He's had two of the most rousing standing ovations in the history of the Bell Centre, and you are never going to get one. You could quit playing hockey in a way that negated your contract so that the Habs didn't have to pay you anymore, and give them a refund on all the money they've already paid you, and you wouldn't get anything more than a slow clap as you left town.

Cammalleri - I believe you didn't call the Habs losers, but just lamented the trials of losing. Seriously. The team sucks, and it's got to be hard getting over the hump. We all know about that in our daily lives - or at least, I know about how hard it can be to get motivated to improve and see things through. However, aside from the playoff run in 2010, you've been a huge disappointment. You don't score enough goals to be such a floater in the defensive zone. Best of luck in Calgary.
